About the Judge:

C.C. Chapman is a writer, professional speaker, photographer and explorer. He is a graduate of Bentley University and loves nothing more than traveling the world and sharing everything he sees and experiences. His work has appeared on the pages of Rolling Stone and the Wall Street Journal. His thoughts and words have appeared on CNN, Fox and many online properties.

Over the years he has worked on and lead numerous award winning campaigns for clients such as American Eagle Outfitters, HBO, The Coca-Cola Company and Verizon FiOS. He is the co-author of the best selling book Content Rules and C.C.’s next book Amazing Things Will Happen: A Real World Guide to Success and Happiness arrives this winter.

Wahiba Chair, Bsc., MBA

About the Judge:

Wahiba Chair is a skilled digital technologist who helps companies build and improve their online presence using social media. Her company, MediaTouch.ca, offers community management, digital marketing, promotion and content strategies for businesses needing to increase their online presence, engagement and their internal digital knowledge. Working with a team of online managers, Wahiba creates and implements digital and online promotional strategies with relevant reporting and metrics.

Wahiba built her digital skills as the founder of Carrotlines, Canada’s top mobile food marketing platform that connects consumers and brands. She built an engaged social media and mobile community of over 100,000 monthly active users, while working with targeted partners and sponsors to catapult the mobile app to a Top 10 listing on the iTunes Store (Health & Fitness Category) in two consecutive years. Carrotlines’ complementary product, the Foodwiki.ca, is the largest online and mobile food database in Canada, built using proprietary data gathering techniques.

As a computer engineer, Wahiba leads mobile technology development teams, develops product concepts and creates practical business solutions using a combination of business strategy skills, engineering acumen and solid digital marketing skills.

About the Judge:

Sean is the Head Coach at That Social Media Guy, based in Campbell River, BC. Sean has been in the Social Media industry for 9 years and is active coaching businesses, organizations and non-profits in how to better use and manage their Social Media presence. Sean has been a guest on CKNW’s Simi Sara Show and is frequently seen on CTV Vancouver Island and CHEK News, giving comment on stories involving Social Media. He is a professional speaker, speaking at Social Media Camp, The Social Media Camp Workshop series and travelling the province, speaking to a variety of professional development conferences and workshops.

About the judge:
Julien has spent the past 10 years riding waves of technology as they have grown in importance. This ability to read trends, alongside his ability to express ideas clearly, has allowed him to work with some of the most important names on the web.

Julien’s first book, Trust Agents, written with Chris Brogan, was an instant New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller and won awards including Amazon and 800 CEO-READ’s best books of the year.

An avid finger puppet collector and a closet Internet geek since 1994, Angela Crocker helps heart-centered entrepreneurs and business owners build (mostly) online communities. She has a unique ability to teach using geek-speak that’s understandable to all.

A community builder, Angela believes social networking is part art and part science. From the technical how-tos to the art of conversation, Angela teaches anyone to find and passionately embrace their community both online and offline.

Robert Fine

About the Judge: 

Robert fine is the founder and publisher of The Social Media Monthly magazine, the only print magazine covering the social media community. Prior to that, Robert organized twenty conferences on social media in 2009 including the first social media conference on the east coast. In 2010, he published “The Big Book of Social Media Case Studies, Stories, Perspectives”, now used as a textbook at seven universities.

Further, Robert has over twenty years of previous work experience as a systems and sales engineer with various companies including Conservation International, CMGI, Hughes Network Systems, ioWave and Raytheon, as well as two of his own consulting companies: GeoPlan Inc., and The Cool Blue Company. Robert has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Villanova University and a master’s degree in environmental science and public policy from Johns Hopkins University.

He is currently pursuing his PhD at George Mason University and researching the linkages between investments in information technology and achieving conservation outcomes.

Maffin, president of engageQ digital, is one of the country’s go-to commentators on the impact of accelerated technological change and innovation on the business and economic environment and can speak to every aspect of technology and resulting implications for the world in which we live.

Raul Pacheco-Vega, PhD.

About the Judge: 

Dr. Raul Pacheco-Vega (BSc. Chemical Engineering, Universidad de Guanajuato; MBA/MEng. Advanced Technology Management, The University of British Columbia; PhD. Resource Management and Environmental Studies, The University of British Columbia) is a Vancouver-based researcher, educator and consultant in water governance, urban sustainability, and environmental politics and policy.

He has conducted research in the field of comparative environmental public policy and politics for over 10 years. Dr. Pacheco-Vega is also an Instructor in the Department of Political Science at The University of British Columbia & the Regional Director, Western Canada, for the Canadian Institute for Environmental Law & Policy (CIELAP).

He writes a personal blog at Hummingbird604.com which was nominated to the Canadian Blog Awards in the Best New Blog, Best Personal Blog and Best Overall Blog categories in 2009.

Simon Salt

CEO  - The IncSlingers

About the Judge: 

Simon Salt is the founder and CEO of International IncSlingers and author of Social Location Marketing (recently translated into German). Simon is a Digital Marketer and he writes the blog that breaks it all down into every day pieces–The Incslinger.

Born in England with more miles in the air than your average bear, Simon has settled in Texas where the land is vast and the guns are big. He has just a few more special pieces of weaponry to add to his wish list. Simon has worked with companies as varied as Fortune 500 to startups and international PR agencies.

He teaches Advanced Mobile Marketing, an online course, with the Learning Resources Network (LERN), the largest continuing education association in the world, in partnership with over 250 colleges, universities and other education organizations throughout the United States and Canada.

He remains a down-to-earth guy who loves motorcycles, Lego’s and cats. He has been published by Mashable, Read Write Web and Small Business Bonfire. Simon is a builder, a fixer, a voracious reader, and lover of classic movies. He’s also been known to wear a kilt upon occasion.
